Partner Events and Programs

The OPRF Sounds Good! Choir (formerly Encore Choir) begins fall rehearsals on Tuesday, September 3, 9:30-11 am at the Nineteenth Century Club in Oak Park. Sounds Good! Choir is a non-audition choral group for singers 55+. Holiday concert is Friday, December 13. Conducted by River Forest resident, Linda Crabtree Powell. Registration fee is $175. Need-based scholarships are available through River Forest Township; contact Supervisor Carla Sloan at cbsloan.rftownship@gmail.com.

Oak Park & River Forest Senior Services include:
  • Case management to help seniors get the services they need, including: individual care planning, service coordination and individual case monitoring
  • Transportation Services , including taxicab coupon booklets and curb-to-curb service on lift-equipped minibuses within Oak Park and River Forest
  • Meal Programs, including a daily group lunch at the senior dining facility, Home-Delivered Meals and a Dine-Out Program.
  • Caregiver Support
  • Affordable will preparation
  • Daily phone checks and monitoring by mail carriers to help ensure the well being of seniors.
  • Application assistance with free public transportation and license plate discounts
  • Home energy assistance
  • Health screenings
  • Assistance in obtaining federal, state and local benefits
  • Health insurance assistance
  • Income tax assistance
  • Assistance with in-home chores
  • Holiday Food and Gift Basket

Meal Programs:
Township Senior Services has a Senior Lunch Program located on the first floor at 130 S. Oak Park Ave. Lunches are served at 11:00 AM, Monday through Friday, with a suggested contribution of $1.50/meal. All River Forest residents 60 and over are welcome and encouraged to attend.

Transportation to and from the lunch program is available through Senior Services Transportation at 383-4806.

The Township Senior Services Dine Out Program offers seniors the opportunity to enjoy affordable, nutritious lunches or dinners at specified local restaurants. Coupons for this program can be obtained at the Township Senior Lunch Program on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 9:00-11:00 AM for a suggested donation of $3.50.

The 9th Annual Celebrating Seniors Week will be held May 2-9, 2019 in Oak Park, River Forest and Forest Park. This week-long series of events and programs celebrates the senior adults in our communities.
