Intellectual & Developmental Disabilities
River Forest Township works with local agency partners to fund a wide range of programs in the area of intellectual/developmental disabilities (I/DD).
The Township also provides curb-to-curb transportation services for residents with disabilities in River Forest.
The Township sponsored a panel discussion with Opportunity Knocks to learn how local businesses could better accommodate those living with disabilities. Watch the video here.
The following agencies receive funding from River Forest Township to provide INTELLECTUAL & DEVELOPMENTAL DISABILITIES (I/DD) services to our community.
Community Support Services (CSS) - providing respite and case management services, as well as day programs and CILA's for adults with I/DD. RFT funds respite care and case management.
Oak Leyden Developmental Services - provides early intervention services for children birth to age 3 with intellectual and/or developmental disabilities. RFT funds early intervention services.
Opportunity Knocks - after school and day program for adults with I/DD. RFT funds services.
Progressive Center for Independent Living - services for those with disabilities relating to advocacy, outreach, disability aid search, and job training services. RFT funds community outreach and services.
UCP Seguin - life skills programming, case management, and respite services are provided for adults with I/DD. Employment and residential services for adults along with assistive technology and accessibility services are also available. RFT funds transitional services and respite.
